Kapatiran Suntukan Martial Arts |
||
In the past 18 years of studying the martial arts, I have met and trained with a number of great martial artists and call many of them my friends. After training in backyards, parks and basements for over a decade, I recognized my need to reach more people. Because of this need, I opened KSMA-Des Moines in April, 2011. Unfortunately, due to illness and lack of regular students, I had to close the school in March of 2013. My time studying the arts has had its ups and downs, from recognition of my hard work by some of the best to busting my ACL. Martial arts have shaped, and continue to shape, who I am today. The arts have influenced my world view to aiding in that constant desire to learn - not only the arts but in various subjects which interest me and to go after those with my whole heart. I am a ranked instructor in Aneh Palu Kali-Silat and Sadiq Kuntao-Silat as well as an apprentice instructor in Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Concepts. I am also a founding member of the global group, Kapatiran Suntukan Martial Arts and was sole director of the group from 2006 to 2011. Outside of class I enjoy listening to music, reading, and maintaining aquariums, as well as travelling and discovering a new craft beer. I spent part of my youth living outside the country and that was a great experience that helped me understand various cultures. To read more about my martial arts history and how I got to this point, please check out this blog post. I look forward to seeing you in class. |
